Vice Principals

My name is Irene Tsimiklis and I am the new vice-principal of Laval Junior Academy, primarily servicing secondary one students.  My career began some twenty nine years ago in elementary schools, where I taught grades kindergarten to grade six.  After teaching for 24 years, I pursued my studies at McGill University in Leadership and started my new career as a pedagogical consultant at the head office. The following year, I became a vice-principal at Hillcrest Academy Elementary School.  Subsequently, I was appointed as interim principal at Hillcrest Academy Elementary School, at Pierre Elliott Trudeau Elementary School and at Jules Verne Elementary School.

It is my honour to be working with the students, the staff and the community of Laval Junior Academy for the school year 2018-2019.  Our students are the most important members of our school community and I believe that with the appropriate strategies and constant support, all our students can succeed. My philosophy is simple: every child can learn!  Our job as educators, is to empower our youth and guide them through their educational journey. I believe that a quality education begins with a positive school environment where students feel secure. I am committed to building a trusting school environment where all students can experience success.

My name is Helen Kalipolidis, vice principal at Laval Junior Academy primarily servicing secondary 2 students.  I have been an educator for over 30 years having worked in both the private & public sectors.  After 15 years of teaching, I decided to put the Masters in Educational Administration degree earned at McGill University to use by joining Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board’s administrative team.  Since then, I have served as vice-principal at Terry Fox Elementary, St. Paul Elementary and Laval Liberty High Schools. I was also named principal of Saint-Vincent Elementary and interim principal of St. Paul Elementary.  This is my third year as an administrator at Laval Junior Academy.

As a firm believer in life-long learning, I aim to support our students as they evaluate and monitor their own progress in order to achieve their academic, social, athletic and work-related goals and dreams.  I hope to further develop their confidence and independence, by guiding and orienting them as they continue to enrich their foundation while they practice a greater degree of self-discipline to become leaders in their future field of choice.

Laval Junior Academy is filled with a dedicated, knowledgeable, and caring team. I am honored to be part of it.
