Extra Curricular Activities

Track and Field

Laval Junior Academy has an outstanding track & field team. Last year alone, Laval Junior and Senior Academy (combined boys and girls team), came through with a whopping 117 medals in every single event such as sprints, long distance running, relays, jumps and all throwing events. Any student can train once or twice a week after school with Coach Ricci, Coach Petrella, and Coach Leblanc. Also joining us are Laval Senior Academy's returning student-athletes for their training. Every year, our student-athletes come together, work hard on improving their individual abilities, and go to competition proud to represent their school. Official tryouts take place closer to the date of competition. The indoor competition takes place in February and the outdoor competition takes place in May. Students are charged a fee for transportation and registration.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is now offered at Laval Junior Academy in partnership with Gracie Barra Laval [1] with Head Coach David Guigui. Coach David is a black belt under four time world champion Bruno Fernandes and has competed in several MMA bouts. He has trained with several UFC competitors such as George St-Pierre, David Loiseau and John Makdessi. Our students will learn self-defense with the safest and most effective methods of grappling and wrestling. There are no striking techniques to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu such as Kickboxing or Tae Kwon Do because it places its emphasis in controlling their training partner/opponent in a clinch or on the mat. LJA's students will learn and develop much needed character traits and higher moral standards with the practice of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Working with classmates/training partners towards enhanced skill development and developing meaningful friendships are a few of the many benefits earned while training in Jiu-Jitsu. Practitioners have had great improvements in stress release and concentration, increased self-confidence and resilience along with their overall physical conditioning. We welcome LJA students with or without experience to join our growing family.
